The challenge of balancing an increase in productivity with the decision to invest in additional machining capacity is a good problem for an engineering manufacturing company to have.
Earlier this year Citizen Machinery UK were approached by one of their long-standing customers who found themselves in this situation (although not for the first time).
Expansion in manufacturing capacity requires serious machine shop floor investment. Alongside this, the assurances of quality, reliability & performance from established suppliers is of paramount importance. Already having a J&S Engineering disc model component collector and several Citizen lathes, this customer was confident in using both of us to add to their existing production set up.
Citizen were able to provide a solution for their customer and in conjunction with us, also recommended 2 further DPH1000’s to compliment the 2 new Cincom L32X sliding head lathe’s. Adding these component collectors to the lathes enables the machines to run unmanned for lights out machining and also ensures the critical surface finishes of their components are maintained.
The unique oil drain-back feature of the DPH1000 is designed to enable the reclamation of this resource for immediate reuse in the sliding head machine - a fantastic way to save money & implement a sustainability initiative simultaneously. All of the oil from the parts landing on the rotating disc drains down to a central point where it is then piped back to the Citizen machine.
Proven results from their other component collecting machine from J&S Engineering in the last two years, meant this manufacturer was keen to invest in a further two units to continue saving money from the reuse of oil and maintain their commitment to being environmentally responsible.
