Qualiturn Continues Investment in Sustainable Manufacturing
Qualiturn are a shining example of how a manufacturing company can commit to a strong sustainable plan. As a result, they are making a real contribution to the circular economy. To achieve these goals they have embedded their environmental policy across the business, demonstrating a measured understanding of their impact on the environment and invested in advanced technology and processes.
Making Every Resource Count
Helping our customers to further expand their sustainability programmes is a key part of what we do. Our solutions support more efficient use of resources while delivering clear environmental and financial benefits. Qualiturn is a great example of this approach, returning to J&S Engineering for a swarf management solution after they previously installed a lubricant recycling system from us at their new factory a few years ago.
Following our advice, the large subcontractor invested in a iSwarf 50 briquetting machine from our trusted supplier Hocker Polytechnik.
This briquetting machine allows Qualiturn to reclaim their valuable coolant to reuse back in their machines. At the same time, it increases the recycling value of their swarf and reduces expenditure on swarf storage and disposal.
A Bespoke Solution for Centralised Swarf Processing
The standard iSwarf50 is primarily designed to fit onto just one machine. However, Hocker Polytechnik adapted the machine for Qualiturn to provide a central point for processing swarf from any of the 4 machines running aluminium on their shop floor. Operators bring swarf bins to this unit to be emptied. The bespoke iSwarf50 features an extended hopper and provides a 600 litre capacity for a full load of aluminium swarf. This enables the system to process up to 50 kilos of swarf per hour. In addition, an extra stirrer is fitted in the hopper to prevent bridging and tunnelling of the swarf.
The system drains the coolant reclaimed from the pressed swarf into an IBC ready for reuse in Qualiturn’s machines.
Ultimately, investing in fluid and swarf management equipment as part of a corporate sustainability plan not only contributes to achieving responsible manufacturing goals but also provides both environmental & financial benefits.
